A letter from the builderKeep Selector spinning
Hey, I'm Jay.
Record collector, lifelong music fan. Product manager by day. Papa and husband (the real work).
Selector is a labor of love. It started with a childhood obsession: pulling the liner notes out of every record, CD, and tape I could get my hands on, and reading them compulsively. I grew up as the music nerd of my friend group, and talking about music with people who love it is still my favorite thing. (I'm not claiming the title of the internet's busiest music nerd. We all know Fantano holds that one.)
That's why I built Selector. Learning about the music you already own just makes me happy, and I hope it does the same for you.
Selector is free, and the core of it always will be. No ads. No selling your data. If I ever charge for anything, it'll be cosmetic stuff like skins and themes. Never the engine.
But servers aren't free, and right now that bill comes out of my pocket. If Selector brings you any joy, anything you can throw in helps keep it running. One time or monthly, whatever works.
Chip in, keep it spinning.
Every dollar goes to keeping the servers on and the records connected.
No ads · No selling your data · Core free forever
Keep listening. Keep supporting the artists you love. Go to your local record shop. Buy things from them. Talk to the people who work there. Let them bless you with recs and knowledge.
And keep going to LIVE FUCKING SHOWS. Buy the T-shirt. Tip your bartender. Go in the pit. Get hit a couple times. Fall down. Get up. Pick someone up. Hug them. Go to a Slipknot show and skank in the middle of the pit, cuz why the fuck not? Live music is really where it's at. Talk to the other fans. Make friends. Build community. Believe it or not, these are revolutionary acts. This is how we fight the bosses.
And lastly, and most importantly, admit that you like Ska.
Mad love. Mad blessings.
The Homie Jay
